About Strange Movement – Hi, I’m Susy, a 51-year-old Yoga Therapist and Lifestyle Medicine Educator. I am also a trained yoga teacher, specialising in personalised biomedical yoga and trauma-sensitive yoga.
I first turned to yoga in my twenties as a way to keep moving and improve my body image after undergoing serious childhood surgeries, including spinal fusion, Harrington rod insertion, and rib-hump surgery. Despite having a severe spinal curve, I enjoy an uncompromised quality of life thanks to my yoga and lifestyle practices.
Now, I am passionate about sharing my learning and experience to help others age well, keep moving, and feel better—both physically and emotionally.
I am a qualified Yoga Therapist and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner with a deep passion for empowering individuals to enjoy healthy, happy living. With extensive training in trauma-sensitive yoga, biomedical yoga, and yoga therapy, I blend ancient practices with modern science to support those on their journey toward well-being. I completed my graduate degree in Lifestyle Medicine in 2024, further solidifying my expertise in preventive healthcare and the treatment and management of chronic lifestyle-related disease.
After spending 25 years in the medical devices industry, primarily focused in the cardiovascular space, I made a transformative shift to focus on helping people avoid and manage chronic disease, pain, and suffering. My personal journey with yoga began through my own experience of living with a severe, degenerative spinal condition, which I manage with yoga, lifestyle medicine, and an anti-inflammatory diet. This holistic approach fuels my passion for sharing healing practices that address the root causes of chronic conditions rather than just the symptoms.
With my unique background and compassionate approach, I guide others in reclaiming their health and fostering a deeper connection between body, mind, and spirit. Whether through one-on-one sessions or group classes, I am dedicated to supporting individuals in finding balance, reducing pain, and enhancing their quality of life—particularly throughout the ageing process.
I am excited to be opening my first wellness centre in Woronora River in 2025.
